We are seeking an experienced Project Surveyor to join our team. This is an office-only role with occasional site visits. This role does not entail field surveying duties.

There is an alternative work schedule (half-day Fridays!) + hybrid office schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prepare, oversee and process subdivision maps, records of survey, ALTA surveys, lot line adjustments, legal descriptions, condominium plans and other related subdivision/survey matters.

2. Monitor budgets, schedule, and coordinate with Engineering Project Managers.

3. Prepare project approach, setup and execute mapping tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Coordinate with Title Company and review/analyze title report.
  • Resolve surveyed boundaries; calculate and prepare subdivision maps; process maps for agency approval.
  • Serve as a subdivision mapping resource for company. Advise on applications of the Subdivision Map Act, Professional Land Surveyor’s Act, and local codes and ordinances.
  • Review and comply with all Tentative Map Conditions of Approval as related to mapping.
  • Knowledgeable in the latest mapping standards and applications.
  • Responsible for monitoring map schedules, agency fees and procedures.
  • Assist senior mapping manager with financial project duties including billing, collection and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain close communication with Engineering or Survey Team Leaders or clients relating to schedules, extras, and project mapping criteria and conformance with project concept.
  • Provide direct communication with governmental agencies, process maps for approval/recordation, obtain special clearances and permits as related to the project.
  • Direct and implement use of AUTOCAD and other CADD systems for design and survey group.
  • Provide production support as necessary to fulfill project commitments.
  • Review project tasks with team members and schedule work; monitor progress of plan preparation and review work products for accuracy and completeness.
  • Notify the team of changes and follow through with engineers and surveyors.
  • Coach/train team members and provide growth opportunities with challenging work; conduct regular team meetings.
  • Represent the firm in related professional and industry associations.
  • Assist other team leaders in preparing Scope of Work/Fee Proposals.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.

Supervisory Responsibilities In coordination with the Senior Mapping and Survey Manager supervises 1-2 employees in the Mapping Team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education, Experience & Knowledge Two years of general survey and mapping education and six years of experience or any combination of college and design experience in land boundary and titles totaling eight years. Minimum of two years independently solving complex mapping or engineering problems. Land Surveyors license in the State of California is required.
