Job Summary: 

 

The Unmanned Maritime Systems (UMS) Instructor will augment and support active duty instructors in the EODTEUONE UMS Division facilitating advanced level training for UMS platoons during Unit Level Training to support O-FRP Basic phase. This training consists of classroom and field training including Basic Mission and Full Mission profiles (BMP/FMP).


 
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site support to EODTEU ONE instructors during classroom evolutions, basic training, and FMP training evolutions.
  • Support EOD instructors in the curriculum maintenance.
  • Support the revision and continuous improvement of learning materials and assessment tools.
  • When directed, complete additional administrative tasks.
  • Travel approximately five weeks per quarter as required by the government.
  • Must be available for occasional night and weekend training.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of the Basic UUV O&M Course, CIN: A-062-0200
  • Two years of instructional experience in lieu of designation (DD-214, course certificates, etc.).
  • Three years of demonstrated experience in courseware development and classroom instruction in the use and interpretation of underwater side scan sonar imagery, Forward-Looking Sonar (FLS) imagery (i.e. ATLAS), and Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) imagery (i.e. SSAM), to include advanced techniques in varying bottom types.
  • Three years of experience in the integration of FLS and SAS sensors into the MK18 Family of Systems (FoS) UUVs for ExMCM applications and operations.
  • Three years of experience in the application of FLS software (i.e. PUMA) and SAS software (i.e. COIN) for PMA.
  • Have a broad background, knowledge, skill and experience in the Naval Operational Planning Process and Command and Control of assigned forces.
  • Five years of operational experience in the tactical employment of the MK 18 UUV FoS to include at least six months of deployed operational experience in direct support of military operations (e.g. Fifth Fleet operations)
  • Honorably Discharged from Active Duty Military service if applicable.
  • Must meet Navy High-Risk Training requirements as outlined in OPNAVINST 1500.75 series.
  • Qualification criteria. All contract instructors shall meet one of the following requirements in accordance with NETCINST
  • 1500.5(Series) as acceptable forms of instructor training:

       Military service Instructor Training Course (ITC).

Instructor training via an accredited academic institution.

Academic credentialing (teacher/professor).

  • NETC Academic ITC requirements. Accredited academic institutions ITC should contain at a minimum, these Learning Objectives:

Effective communication and questioning techniques.

Adult learning theory and principles.

Instructional Delivery methods.

Lesson delivery performance laboratory.

Training environment management.

Inter-personal skills.

Evaluation and Feedback.
