Position: Project Historian, Researcher, and Videographer Montville Township Public Schools, Montville, NJ
Description: Are you a history buff with a passion for research and a talent for capturing visual and written stories? Montville Township Public Schools is seeking an Historian, Researcher, and Videographer to join our innovative and dynamic team. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to help develop instillations to showcase the rich history of our school district through extensive research. This position will do the research for, and assist with the implementation of, a series of smaller research-based historical projects that will ultimately culminate into a district-wide historic initiative. You will be a part of a creative team and will help develop captivating and interactive photographic, video, and written content.
Job Summary: As a Historian, Researcher, and Videographer for Montville Township Public Schools, you will have the opportunity to explore and document the rich history of our district, from the founding of our schools to modern-day milestones. Through your work, you will help preserve the legacy of our schools, foster community engagement, and showcase the achievements and values of Montville Township Public Schools. Motivated and creative individuals, who enjoy project-based work, and possess a passion for history and storytelling, are encouraged to apply.
Goals:
Thoroughly research the district's history, as well as the history of each school building.
Develop a comprehensive timeline for the district and each individual school.
Foster historical perspective and help develop opportunities for the community to better understand the distric's history.
Help implement a system for capturing current achievements and integrating them into the district's ongoing historical timeline.
Ultimately each school and the district offices will have an instillation highlighting the history of each building and the district.
Qualifications:
Strong research and analytical skills, with a passion for local history.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively with a flexible schedule.
Experience in historical research or a related field.
Proficiency in videography and editing software is required.
A background in communications is a plus but not required.
Experience in updating website pages is a plus but not required.
