Summer Discovery is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Residential Photographer/Videographer to capture the essence of our summer programs through compelling photography and videography. As a Photographer/Videographer, you will be embedded in our program, living on-site and documenting the daily experiences of our students. You will play a crucial role in showcasing the academic excellence, social engagement, and personal growth that define the Summer Discovery experience. As a Photographer/Videographer, you'll be living on campus and working around the clock, with varied and unpredictable hours. This means you'll be available 24/7 to support our students. Your work schedule will be dynamic and is highly likely to change based on the needs of the program.
Essential Functions
- Capture High-Quality Media: Produce professional-quality photos and videos that adhere to Summer Discovery's standards. This includes:
- Daily Academic Photos: Document classroom activities, labs, and other academic endeavors.
- Social and Recreational Activities: Capture the fun and excitement of student life outside the classroom, including field trips, campus events, and social gatherings.
- Student & Staff Portraits: Capture individual and group portraits that showcase the diversity and energy of our community.
- Adhere to Content Requirements:
- Daily Uploads: Upload all media content to Google Drive following established folder structures and naming conventions.
- Weekly Selection: Curate a "Best of the Week" folder containing 50-75 outstanding photos that highlight the most engaging moments of the program.
- Maintain Brand Consistency: Ensure all content aligns with Summer Discovery's brand values, tone, and objectives. Participate in regular check-ins with the Marketing Team to receive feedback and guidance.
- Respect Venue Policies: Research and comply with photography/videography restrictions during field trips, campus tours, and special events. Obtain explicit permission before filming or photographing when in doubt.
- Compliance: Adhere to Summer Discovery policies, including curfew, alcohol and drug policies, and maintaining professional conduct.
Qualifications
- Proven photography and videography skills with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
- Proficiency in digital photography equipment and editing software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Passion for capturing authentic moments and storytelling through visual media.
- Ability to reside on-site for the duration of the program.
- Experience working with youth or in an educational setting.
- Familiarity with Google Drive and online collaboration tools.

- Movement: Engage in continuous movement across the campus while supervising students.
Schedule/Location:
- Location: On-campus residency required throughout the program duration. Summer location is discussed during the interview process and will depend on availability and skill set requirements.
- Orientation: Attend a paid staff orientation five days prior to the program start. Engagement, curiosity, and learning is required during orientation.
- Work Schedule: Flexibility in schedule required due to the dynamic nature of the work. We do offer one day off for every two weeks on campus.
- Commitment: As a Photographer/Videographer, you'll be living on campus and working around the clock, with varied and unpredictable hours. This means you'll be available 24/7 to support and engage in all program activities. Your work schedule will be dynamic and is highly likely to change based on the needs of the program
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 20 years old by the start of the program (21 years old for certain locations).
- Education: Completed or currently pursuing a four-year university degree.
- On-Campus Residency: Ability to reside on campus for the entire duration of the program, ensuring full immersion in the daily operations and student experience.
- Certification: Driver’s License and First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
