Job Title: Part-Time Photographer

Reports to: Marketing & Communications Manager
Location: YMCA of Muncie (Multiple Branches & Program Sites)
Schedule: Flexible hours including some evenings and weekends
Compensation: $14 per hour 

Position Summary

The YMCA of Muncie is seeking a creative and passionate Part-Time Photographer to help tell our story through compelling, authentic imagery. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a mission-driven environment and loves capturing real moments—whether it's the joy on a camper’s face, the determination in a swimmer’s stroke, or the connection between volunteers and families.

The photographer will support the YMCA’s marketing, development, and program teams by producing high-quality visual content that reflects our values of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Photograph YMCA programs, events, members, and staff at multiple sites (e.g., fitness classes, child care, summer camp, community events).
  • Edit and deliver images in a timely manner for use in print, digital, and social media.
  • Organize and archive photos with appropriate tags, captions, and releases.
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Development teams to support fundraising campaigns, storytelling, and promotional materials.
  • Capture photos that reflect diversity, equity, and inclusion across our YMCA community.
  • Ensure subjects have photo releases on file and follow YMCA brand and privacy standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in photography (portfolio required).
  • Familiarity with editing tools such as Lightroom, Photoshop, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional, approachable demeanor.
  • Comfortable photographing people of all ages and in a wide variety of settings.
  • Passion for the mission and work of the YMCA.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry items up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements such as sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings, in all weather conditions.
