We are seeking an exceptional Geospatial Technical Subject Matter Expert to provide strategic leadership, deep technical expertise, and innovative solutions across our geospatial operations. This senior-level position requires an individual with comprehensive knowledge of geospatial technologies, methodologies, and applications who can serve as the definitive technical authority within our organization. This role will help establish standards for exploiting geospatial data by our team of human annotators.
Responsibilities:
Provide authoritative technical guidance on complex geospatial challenges, systems architecture, and integration solutions
Lead the evaluation and implementation of emerging geospatial technologies and methodologies
Develop technical standards, best practices, and quality assurance protocols for geospatial operations
Serve as principal technical advisor for high-priority projects requiring advanced geospatial expertise
Guide cross-functional teams in implementing sophisticated geospatial solutions
Develop and conduct specialized training and knowledge transfer sessions for technical staff
Author technical papers, documentation, and specifications for geospatial systems and processes
Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Science, Remote Sensing, Geomatics, Computer Science, or related field (additional years of experience may be substituted for education)
Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience in geospatial technology applications
In depth domain expertise over a number of sensing phenomenology including Electro-Optical (EO), Infrared (IR), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), and others
Demonstrated expertise across multiple domains of geospatial science (e.g., remote sensing, photogrammetry, spatial analysis, cartography)
Understanding of National Imagery Interpretability Rating Scale (NIIRS) and how it relates to visual interpretation of imagery
Advanced knowledge of geospatial data acquisition, processing, analysis, and visualization techniques
Experience with common geospatial software platforms (i.e. QGIS, ESRI ArcGIS, ENVI, ERDAS)
Knowledge of US government geospatial datasets and standards (e.g. NITF)
Proven record of solving complex technical problems involving geospatial data and systems
Superior communication skills with ability to translate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
Active TS clearance
Desired Skills:
Master's degree in Geographic Information Science, Remote Sensing, Geomatics, Computer Science, or related field
Professional certifications (e.g., GISP, PMP, ASPRS certifications)
Strong preference for deep expertise in SAR
Experience leading geospatial R&D initiatives or technology modernization efforts
Experience developing custom geospatial applications and tools
Expertise in cloud-based geospatial platforms and architectures
Knowledge of AI/ML applications for geospatial analysis
Track record of innovative problem-solving in complex geospatial projects
