Job Description:

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) is currently seeking to hire a highly skilled, mid-level (3-10 years) UAV Electronics Technician to work at the NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC).  The candidate will work alongside engineers at NASA to develop new avionics and instrumentation hardware for a variety of UAV flight missions. 

Job Description

The UAV Electronics Technician will work at the NASA LaRC to maintain new avionics and instrumentation hardware for NASA’s growing unmanned aerial vehicle programs. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining various electronic components of unmanned flight vehicles including the communications, power, wiring, and testing architecture.  This work involves analyzing, designing, simulating, fabricating, testing, and conducting performance validation and verification of electronic instrumentation systems and flight circuit boards.  Additional duties may also include wiring and fabrication of flight hardware.

This is a full time, on site position located at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA.

The salary range for this position is $58,000-$80,0000 and is commensurate with education and relevant experience.

Major Responsibilities

  • Extensive experience troubleshooting electronic circuits.

  • Experience in creating custom wiring harnesses.

  • Real-time field-testing support.

  • Experience in NASA LaRC’s Metrology program and practices.

  • Presents test results at project reviews and team conferences.

  • Performs additional data systems and analysis work as required.

  • Perform battery qualifications and maintenance on a variety of battery types.

  • Manages standards and certifications on ESD qualified areas and development labs.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited university.

  • 3 – 10 years of experience

  • Hands on experience troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical systems including circuit boards.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • An ability to learn new skills and adapt to new technologies.

This position requires U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residency.
