Under the general supervision of the Manager, Digital Media, the University Photographer and Videographer will support the Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications in various functions including: Act as staff photographer for campus activities and events, shoot photo and video for marketing projects. For medium and large-scale video shoots they will also serve as the first or second camera operator, and production assistant.
Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as student photographer and videographer for the SUA marketing and communications team
- Editing of captured material for expedited turnover times
- Provide video and photography support of on-campus moments for stories used in undergraduate and graduate admission materials, social media, marketing collateral and editorial content
- Respond to video and photo assignments from Manager, across campus for on-campus speakers, special events, and institutional functions
- Occasionally serve as a host of a segment or reel for social media content
- Arrange and execute photo shoots with faculty, staff, and students, both staged and candid, that fulfill needs for editorial, website, and marketing collateral, as needed
- Serve as first or second camera operator for medium and large-scale video shoots
- Assist in the execution of short videos for websites and social media that communicate the spirit of the university
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Digital Media
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- No previous experience necessary. The knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties of this position are typically acquired through the following combination of education, expertise, skills and/or equivalent:
EDUCATION
- Students will receive 6 weeks of intensive training both theoretical and practical
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years photography and videography experience a plus
- Editing experience a plus
COMPETENCIES/SKILLS YOU WILL ACQUIRE:
- Technical mastery of DSLR, mirrorless, and cinema camera systems
- Proficient in creating video content for use in marketing, social media and websites
- Experience working with flash and continuous studio lighting
- Experience with digital imaging workflow
- Proficient in video and photo editing
- Proficient in content creation and editing software tools, e.g. Adobe Suite
- Experience with database/image management software and basic data processing
- Must possess the ability to handle competing demands and balance multiple tasks at once
- Must be motivated, highly organized, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Must possess the ability to work quickly while maintaining quality and attention to detail
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates an ability to effectively collaborate with others and takes direction well
- Works efficiently and effectively between multiple projects, across multiple departments, and with many different stakeholders and constituents
- Strong diplomatic acumen to foster and maintain collegial relationships with stakeholders, clients, leadership, and colleagues
- High ethical and professional standards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The position requires light physical effort. Frequent mobility and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Requires manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine and other office equipment. The position typically may require moving and lifting objects up to 20 pounds or helping to set up canopies and display equipment. The position requires close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) abilities.

- Indoor work environment with occasional outside exposure.
- Occasional exposure to unpleasant elements such as noise, heat, cold and/or dust.

16.90The base salary range for this position is listed above. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, experience and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the range listed here.
