Job Description:

The Solar Interconnection Coordinator manages the technical and administrative process of connecting utility-scale solar projects to the electrical grid, as a part of the Owner’s Engineering and client support Team. Acting as the primary liaison between developers, engineers, utility companies, and ERCOT; and ensuring applications (Net Metering, Rule 21, etc.) are submitted, approved, and tracked for timely permission to operate. The position entails a close follow-up on project substation construction schedule and corresponding administrative milestones with interconnection related entities (including EPC contractor) until COD achievement. The position allows for remote part-time work-from-home, with weekly stays at client’s offices once a month.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application Management: Prepare, submit, and track utility interconnection applications for solar and energy storage projects under construction. Follow-up of interconnection process and documentation during engineering and construction phases.
  • Utility/ERCOT Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for utility representatives to resolve issues, manage revisions, and secure approval.
  • Timeline Management: Monitor project milestones (including substation construction) to ensure compliance with utility regulations and meet deadlines for project completion and COD planned dates.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with client’s internal departments (engineering, purchasing, construction) and external stakeholders to collect technical documents (site maps, one-line diagrams, models, utility forms, engineering models, etc.) and supervise timely delivery to utilities and ERCOT.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on utility regulations, net metering rules, and grid requirements, and review related project’s documentation for compliance.


Reporting Line / Interfaces:

  • Reporting to internal OE team manager and external client’s Engineering Manager and Project Managers.
  • Works closely with Client’s project management team, internal and client Engineering teams, EPC contractor, local utilities and ERCOT representatives.


Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering 
  • Minimum of ten (10) years in large utility-scale solar & BESS interconnection process.
  • Demonstrated international experience in renewable energy and high voltage projects 
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of design and construction experience in high voltage infrastructures (substations, switchyard, transmission lines).
  • Electrical PE license is required.
  • Strong organizational and interconnection stakeholders management skills.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving; ability to work under schedule pressure.
  • Availability to travel to client’s main office, on a monthly basis.
