A well-established engineering and surveying firm is seeking a Maryland-licensed Professional Land Surveyor with a minimum of 5–7 years of experience, including direct work on transportation-related projects with the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration.

This is a full-time, in-office position based in Baltimore, MD, with occasional travel to project sites and client offices. The ideal candidate will take a hands-on leadership role in overseeing field operations, performing QA/QC, and processing survey data while ensuring compliance with regulatory and client standards.

Responsbilities

    • Conduct and oversee land, boundary, property, ALTA, and topographic surveys
    • Perform and lead QA/QC of fieldwork and survey deliverables
    • Process and analyze field data, ensuring accuracy and compliance
    • Supervise and mentor survey field crews
    • Utilize total station equipment and advanced surveying technologies
    • Work with point clouds and emerging survey technologies
    • Prepare precise documentation, plats, and reports
    • Collaborate with engineers, construction professionals, and project stakeholders
    • Ensure all surveying activities meet regulatory requirements and project specifications

Qualifications

    • Active Maryland Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license
    • 5–7+ years of professional land surveying experience
    • Direct experience with MDOT SHA projects required
    • Strong proficiency in:
    • Land and topographic surveys
    • Boundary and property surveys
    • ALTA/NSPS surveys
    • Total station equipment and related technologies
    • Hands-on experience processing survey data and performing QA/QC
    • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Demonstrated leadership and project management capabilities
    • Ability to work full-time onsite
    • Licensure in Washington, DC and/or neighboring states
    • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field
    • Experience with point cloud data and advanced survey technologies
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
$100,000 - $140,000 a year
