Overview:

Event Site Photographers are responsible for deftly navigating bustling student group activities capturing dynamic storytelling imagery that documents attendee’s day-to-day event experience at our summer career and leadership enrichment programs for elementary, middle, and high school students. You will be tasked with artful capture of meaningful learning moments, newly formed friendships, program speakers, hands-on activities, and off-site excursions and site visits. To accomplish this successfully, you will need your head on a swivel and quick reflexes in documenting these authentic moments. The ideal candidate has experienced success as either a wedding or sports event photographer. Imagery you capture will be used for a myriad of purposes from student and parent access to program sales and marketing activities, and social media promotions. 

What to Expect:

  • First and foremost, all team members are expected to enable the safety and well-being of our students and model and embody our core Service Values.
  • Provide own professional photography equipment (self-insured)
  • Receive program shot list(s) and defined daily content capture listings: students, classes, workshops, tours, hands-on activities, guest speakers, etc.
  • All captured imagery is rights-released and owned by WorldStrides, Inc. in perpetuity
  • Imagery captured at event(s) cannot be used for Photographer self-promotion without WorldStrides permission
  • Ability to travel (flights, coaches, vehicles)
  • Navigate large venues for event captures (extensive walking required)
  • Monitor and ensure the safety of all program participants
  • Being part of a highly collaborative site operations team
  • Attend daily site staff meetings
  • Working hours between 7am-11pm; June-July (some early August) and travel to different sites may be required
  • Option to reside on the program site within college dorms, hotels, or conferences centers
  • Complete mandatory on-site pre-season training; including photography brand guidelines
  • Assist in policy enforcement, including participant conduct, dress code, while acting as a positive team member, mentor, and role model for all team members, participants, and their families

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Attend and capture student experiences at our various Envision program events and locations–documenting the complete student-learning experience.
  • Capture uplifting, lively, and memorable program experiences through dynamic, inclusive, and impactful visual content as detailed in the provided shot list
  • Complete mandatory daily content uploads to our photo sharing site, to organized file folders and albums for public consumption
  • Review staff/student provided images/video uploads-–tagging selects that have potential for broader usage (as reviewed against shot list)
  • Participate in the photo approval process as needed
  • As time allows, capture organic video content in support of photography shot list for usage across social media channels–this is considered a ‘value add’
  • Create an image montage at the conclusion of each program session, highlighting the experience for potential use end of program celebrations, social media, etc.
  • Perform additional misc. duties as designated by the Site Lead and other leads such as, assist with the set-up or take-down of program events
  • Communicate professionally, effectively and positively with staff team, families, vendors, speakers, etc.
  • Strict adherence to WorldStrides policies and procedures – contribute to a safe and engaging environment for youth

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ experience specializing as event photographer, such as weddings and/or sporting events – student photography a plus
  • Strong skills in digital photography, and editing – videography a plus
  • Provide your own professional and insured and insured photography equipment to shoot on location at program sites, which may include college campuses, companies, or other off-site venues. Equipment may vary to include DSLR cameras, lenses, audio equipment, stabilizers, etc.
  • Ability to work with and guide youth and staff to obtain quality content
  • Be a self-starter with and action-oriented mindset and attention to detail
  • Ability to work extended days and hours
  • Ability to receive and apply critical feedback and guidance
  • Always monitor the safety of participants
  • Must pass a verification background check
  • Must submit a portfolio of relevant work/photography samples to be considered
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
